Portfolio Guernica 2004: A critical understanding approach in a Brazilian High School one art
This research is based on the portfolio "Project Guernica 2004". The project has been developed in Art class in a public high school of Brazil (Federal Center of Technological Education of Santa Catarina - CEFETSC), in 2003. The main purpose of the "Project Guernica 2004" was to provide the students with a significant training in the Arts, besides carrying out a 2004 version of the work of art Guernica (1937) by Pablo Picasso (1881-1973). The goal of this research has been to evaluate it critically (a posteriori), aiming at identifying to what extent it provided the students with significant learning and how they could continue, heading for an education in the critical understanding of art. In this process, not only the positive aspects are pointed out, but also the deficiencies as well as questions that could be further explored, adding to the project a more critical character. The perspective of the presenter of this work is that of the teacher in the classroom, confirming the importance of constantly evaluating his/hers educative practice through a reflexive and critical reconstruction.
