Sense-making: Connecting the arts to everyday life
I will provide curriculum examples for art educators who are interested in practicing with multimedia teaching, and especially in showing how studentís movie making can be seen as a way of making meaning in relation to the social world in which they live. Students are able to create visual representation through moving images, music, text, and address visual representation with ordinary everyday practices of seeing connections between mass media, mass culture, commercial art and fine art. Students are to practice different ways of seeing and being seen as a way of interpreting a system of signs, and a way of making meaning in relation to the social and cultural world in which they live.
